
The Somaliland government, elders, religious and business community have been very excellent in the way they have support the first Somaliland Disability Movement, led by DPO leaders (disabled persons leaders).
1. Offer of Land rights to DPO members groups in both the Urban and Rural areas to which some land has been built regional disabled led centres.
2. SL government officials participated in DPO led seminars and workshops on awareness raising about the rights and needs of people with disabilities.
3. SL government officials were trained by our international partners 'ADD' how the DPO movement in Uganda operate and work on the gaps in provision of disabled population in Somaliland. Acquisition of a shared learning experience.
4. SL district commissioners sign rural DPO assessment partnerships to further develop a lasting partnership between them as decision makers and the (27 elected DPO leaders) of the disability movement facilitated by Tawakal Lifeline UK.
5. SL government officials seek to work with the DPO leaders to draft amendments to Somaliland constitution in order to create a clear picture of the rights and responsibiliteis of the Disabled leaders in Somaliland and their role in development.
- Legislative rights for People with Disabilities.
- Fasilitation of mainstream of health, education and socio economic support for PWDs.
- Challenging discrimination in the private and public sector
- Raising awarness all government ministries how to develop inclusive policies and development initiatives that brings direct dialogue with DPO leaders.
- Settlement of displaced disable people.
